SVdP 10-Episode Network TV Series

This 10-week series, airing on Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN) will give viewers a unique look at our special ministry. EWTN is the largest religious media network in the world, so this is amazing exposure for the Society. There will be three airings (one and one-half hours of SVdP programming) each weekend from early March through May. The series will show 29 stories and 11 sidebars for 40 segments about SVdP representing each Society region. Series episodes will air on Palm Sunday, Easter Sunday and Ozanam Sunday.

Join Society of St. Vincent de Paul members on their spiritual growth journey through service to people and families in need. From the Society’s traditional home visits, food pantries and assistance with rent and utilities, to innovative health care, financial and mentoring programs, the Society’s Vincentians see the face of Christ in the people they encounter. In this 10-week series, Vincentians volunteer across the country to bring effective, personalized help to those in poverty, and share with you their stories of Christ’s love along the way.

Episode 1  (Sunday, March 4 & Saturday, March 10) Home Visits, Homelessness & Home from Incarceration: Join Society of St. Vincent de Paul members on their spiritual growth journey through service to people in need. In this episode, join Vincentians in a home visit with a family in need, help the homeless in a downtown shelter and work with returning citizens through prison ministry. See our Catholic faith in action through the volunteers of this unique lay vocation.  (St. Louis, Orlando, Los Angeles)

Episode 2  (Sunday, March 11 & Saturday, March 17) Fixing Teeth and Lives: Come along with Society of St. Vincent de Paul members on their spiritual growth journey through service to people in need. In this week’s episode, join Vincentians helping fix teeth and lives in a free dental clinic, visiting the home of a family in need and giving a helping hand to the homeless and unemployed in a city shelter. See our Catholic faith in action through the volunteers of this unique lay vocation make a difference. (Detroit, Des Moines, Baltimore)

Episode 3  (Sunday, March 18 & Saturday, March 24) Spiritual Growth in Word and Deed: Society of St. Vincent de Paul members grow spiritually through serving people in need. Join Vincentians making a home visit with a family in need, deepening their spirituality and friendship during a Society Conference meeting and working the land to grow fresh produce to help feed the hungry. See our Catholic faith in action through the good works of SVdP’s volunteers.  (Pittsburgh, Madison, Rhode Island)

Episode 4 (Sunday, March 25 & Saturday, March 31) Lifting up People in Need:  Society of St. Vincent de Paul members deepen their spiritual growth through service to neighbors in need. See Vincentians doing God’s work from a pueblo in New Mexico, taking steps to end poverty in an annual walk event, helping a young girl gain the freedom to move around in her own home and teaching a class to promote healthy eating on a budget. Find out why members say they receive more than they give as they put their Catholic faith into action and see the face of Christ in those they serve. (New Mexico, Chicago, Exeter NH, Belleville IL)

Episode 5  (Sunday, April 1 & Saturday, April 7) Relieving Poverty and Renewing Spirits: Join Society of St. Vincent de Paul members on their spiritual growth journey through service to brothers and sisters in need. In this episode, accompany Vincentians as they help a family find relief from a high-interest-predatory loan, work with young people to instill the Vincentian charism and understanding for people in poverty and provide life-saving medicines and hope in a free pharmacy. See our members put their Catholic faith into action.  (Dallas, Cincinnati, Baton Rouge)

Episode 6 (Sunday, April 8 & Saturday, April 14) Nourishing Bodies and Souls: Travel with Society of St. Vincent de Paul members from big cities to small towns on their spiritual growth journey through service to brothers and sisters in need. In this week’s episode, watch Vincentians as they feed the hungry, help children work towards their dreams, assist aspiring chefs with job training, share symbols of God’s love with their community and seek out the homeless and forgotten on city streets. See Vincentians live their Catholic faith as they encounter the face of Christ in the people they serve.  (Phoenix, Baltimore, Uniontown, PA, Chicago)

Episode 7 (Sunday, April 15 & Saturday, April 21) Short-Term and Long-Term Help: Be part of Society of St. Vincent de Paul members’ quest for spiritual growth through service to people in need. Join Vincentians helping people help themselves move out of poverty, making “home visits” to permanent residents of a hotel, helping seniors stretch their food budget and providing nutrition and hope to the community in a food pantry. Learn about the Society’s global outreach and see our Catholic faith in action across the United States and around the world. (Des Moines, Orlando, Exeter, NH, Detroit)

Episode 8 (Sunday, April 22 & Saturday, April 29) Camps, Cars and Couples: Members of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul seek to grow closer to God through serving people in need. Vincentians take donated vehicles to fund programs to help people in need, run a summer camp for homeless children and fight hunger and homelessness in rural areas. Meet a young couple who met through their SVdP parish chapter. See our Catholic faith in action through the good works of the volunteers of this special lay vocation. (Huntsville, AL, Baltimore, Los Angeles-Ventura County)

Episode 9 (Sunday, April 29 & Saturday, May 5) Hearing the Call to Help Others: Society of St. Vincent de Paul members deepen their spirituality through service to their neighbors in need. In this episode, Vincentians bring a mobile dental clinic to the underserved, work with the hearing-impaired and make a home visit with a family. Young people in the Society link up with other young Society members across the globe and participate in service projects in the U.S. See why members say they receive more than they give as they put their Catholic faith into action.  (Exeter, NH, Madison, Uniontown, PA, Albuquerque)

Episode 10 (Sunday, May 6 & Saturday, May 12) SVdP Disaster Services and Youth help People in Need: Join Society of St. Vincent de Paul members as they strive to grow spiritually through service to brothers and sisters in need. Vincentians go on a home visit to help out a neighbor and assist families recovering from disasters. Check out a unique Society program that helps disaster survivors put their lives back together and watch as young Vincentians make a difference in their community. Watch our members live out their Catholic faith as they see the face of Christ in those they serve. (New Orleans, Dallas, Rhode Island)
